We provide training classes for American Heart Association (AHA) and American Red Cross (ARC) and American Health & Safety Institute (AHSI) certifications classes.

We offer these classes at Our Training Center or Your Location.  

 

CHOOSING THE CORRECT COURSE 

 

BLS Provider Courses - These courses are for the Healthcare Provider and Trained First Responders.

Heartsaver Courses - These are for type for general public. (Daycare Providers, Personal Trainers, Teachers) not for healthcare providers

Blended E- Learning - These courses are blended E Learning on Line and Hands On Skill Sessions of BLS and Heartsaver Courses  

 If you are having any signs of illness you should reschedule your training.

The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Renewal course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.  Includes adult, child, and infant CPR techniques.

This course is designed for medical personnel already certified in BLS and require re-certification. Proof of prior AHA BLS Provider certification must be provided before attending renewal course.

The BLS Renewal Course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

In the Instructor-Led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice, skills testing and a written exam.

Intended Audience: This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Must have current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider card or card must not be expired beyond 14 days to attend this class.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. 

Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.

First Aid, CPR/AED Certification Mandated for Teacher Licensure and Renewal every Two years

Virginia Department of Education - (VDOE) requires all those seeking initial teacher licensure and license renewals and provisional teaching licenses to have documentation of certification or training in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

As of July 1, 2013 All Virginia teachers must have a current First Aid CPR/AED Certification and other states also have same requirements

According to the new law, the training shall be based on the current national evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care for CPR and the use of AEDs, such as a program developed by the American Heart Association.

Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens

This classroom course teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements 29 CFR 1910.1030 for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction.

This course is designed for anyone with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens such as:

What Does This Course Teach?

    • How to protect students and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. 

This program teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Anyone, an AHA Instructor or a member of the community serving as a facilitator, can lead the course by following the Facilitator Guide and playing the skills practice DVD. The research-proven practice-while-watching technique provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible while they watch skills performed accurately on the DVD.

The Heartsaver Online Training is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s Heartsaver Courses. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session. 

Completion of Heartsaver First Aid, CPR/AED, or Heartsaver Pediatric Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED can be completed at elearning.heart.org

    The AHA’s US Version Spanish Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online offers the convenience of digital learning in Spanish for US audiences. The eLearning portion of the Heartsaver Spanish First Aid CPR AED blended learning course is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for first aid, CPR, and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete a hands-on skills session (sold separately) with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor.

    If you are passionate about saving lives, motivated to facilitate learning, feel comfortable in group settings, and find it easy to make complex concepts understandable to others, you may be a perfect candidate!

    Please include copy of your CPR, EMT and other certifications with your application.

    1. You need to complete an Instructor Candidate Application for the Training Center before enrolling in an AHA Instructor Course.
    2. Be accepted by a local AHA Training Center before enrolling in an Instructor Course and have a completed Instructor Candidate Application on file with that Training Center.
    3. Have current AHA provider status in the discipline for that Instructor Course and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline. Disciplines include BLS and Heartsaver. Provide copy of your current discipline. Please email copy of your current card to training@medicresponse.com with your application.
    4. Successfully complete the Instructor Essentials Course for the discipline for which you are becoming an instructor this is an online class with classroom/hands-on session.
    5. Successfully complete the Instructor Training course.
    6. Successfully be monitored teaching within 6 months of completing the hands-on session of their Instructor Essentials Course. This could take several months to complete.

    Wilderness and Remote First Aid – 2 Day Course

    To provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response. This includes wilderness and remote environments, including urban disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes. Participants must possess current adult CPR/AED certification (or the equivalent) and be at least 14 years of age on or before the last scheduled session of the course. Prerequisites will be verified by the instructor at the start of the course and are required for student participation in this course.

    Designed for scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts, search and rescue, park rangers and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments, this course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when help from professional first responders may be far away. Based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines, this course aligns with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs.

    *Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course.

    Topics include: Primary and Secondary Assessments, Head/Brain, Neck and Spinal Injuries, Heat-Related Emergencies, Hypothermia, Altitude-Related Illnesses, Allergies and Anaphylaxis, Burns, Bone and Joint Injuries, Wounds and Wound Infection, Wilderness First Aid Kits and more

    ASHI CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid with BBP combination training allows instructors an easy option for students seeking a comprehensive training class that builds the confidence to respond. This first aid, AED, and CPR certification course option is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC, and the 2015 AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid.
